It's the gift God gave away!"
The story is written in rhyme with a joyful, playful spirit complimented by boldly colored, semi-realistic illustrations. As events unfold, it poses questions inviting us to journey with those who were a part of the first Christmas. Following the Biblical account of the birth of Jesus, it shares the gospel and the gift God gave us all.
Below is one of the finished sketches just as I begin painting. And, below it are updates and a few very early sketches.

Did They Know the Real Reason for Christmas, is filled with unexpected messages from heaven which Mary, Joseph and others are compelled to follow to discover their meaning.
Imagine an angel saying you would do something quite impossible which would change the world! It happened to Mary and Joseph. Now they are expecting something very exciting, a real adventure! Wise men and shepherds got a surprise special invitation too! Did they know why? Join their journey to discover the real reason for the first Christmas - and every Christmas since!
Here are a few samples from my Christmas book. I'm in the very early planning stages of an Easter book, but it will be quite a while before it is finished. I'll post updates here.
I start with sketches by hand. Sometimes I add color with paints or inks. At some point, they all end up as digital art so I can prep files for the printer. My studio isn't limited to these two areas of course, I've been known to have things spread around the entire house. And if needed, I'll take my tablet, laptop, and whatever else I can pack when I hit the road.
Below is SNEAK PEEK of a "finished" painting (now digital art). I hope I've captured the surprise young Mary must have felt when the angel, Gabriel announced she would give birth to the Savior! Below that, Joseph has a dream that changes his life. And below that, shepherds get a surprise invitation to visit the King of Kings.The entire book is about special invitations from Heaven which compelled those invited to journey to Bethlehem for a very special baby.
